Privacy policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Short version: this site has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Everything personal stays in your own browser.
What we collect
Nothing directly. There is no sign-up, no contact form that submits to a server, and no analytics or advertising trackers on any page. If you email us at [email protected], we receive whatever you choose to put in that email, and use it only to answer you.
What stays in your browser
To work without accounts, a few features remember things on your own device using browser storage (localStorage, not cookies). It never leaves your device and we never see it:
- Saved chords and recent history (your favorites list), only what you save or open.
- Theme choice (light or dark mode).
- Quiz best scores for the ear trainer and spelling quiz.
- Cookie consent choice, so the banner doesn't ask you twice.
You can erase all of it at any time by clearing your browser's site data, and the favorites page has its own clear buttons. Full details are on the cookie and storage policy page.
Services that see technical data
- Hosting (Cloudflare Pages): when you load a page, Cloudflare necessarily processes your IP address and basic request data to deliver the static files and protect against abuse, under its own privacy policy.
- Fonts (Google Fonts): page titles and text load from Google's font servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when pages load, under Google's privacy policy. Blocking third-party requests still leaves the site fully readable in fallback fonts.
Your rights (EU, UK and elsewhere)
If you are in the EU or UK, you hold GDPR rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and objection over personal data. Since we store nothing about you on any server, there is generally nothing to access or delete. Anything you emailed us, you can ask us to delete by writing to [email protected] from the same address. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
This is a general music reference with nothing age-restricted, and because there are no accounts or data collection, there is nothing specific for parents to review. Children should still ask a parent before emailing us.
Changes to this policy
If the site ever starts collecting anything new (for example analytics), this page will be updated and the date above will change. Material changes may also be noted on the about page.
